I wanted to bring some fun to serious matter today! I love a good experiment especially one that uses the scientific method. Kids can understand and use the scientific method! We start them in kindergarten at my school by doing a group project together in each class. They continue this in first grade and move to independent projects in second through fifth grade. Vocabulary enrichment is a big part of this effort. Children need to hear the words associated with the scientific method early and often. After all what teacher and parent is not thrilled when the words,
“My hypothesis is..” comes out of their child’s mouth. Throughout the month of July and August I will be writing about Science Fair and how to use the scientific method with kids. Stay tuned for more.
I found this video by written, created and produced by Professors DanEllie Rubillis and their students. These teachers and students have done a good job putting together a fun video about the scientific method and the vocabulary that goes with it. Enjoy the video and I hope you come back to learn more about using the scientific method in your classroom!
